We recently received a message from Ken Rogers:
"Every Sunday morning I record a (favorite) TV program, "CBS Sunday Morning". I just played it back and the program had a segment named, "Women's Work": Art by women, known and unknown. It is about an art exhibit in the Lyndhurst Mansion Museum, Terrytown, N.Y. The exhibit included pieces going back a few hundred years, along with contemporary women artists. Beads were/are an important medium of women artists. The program segment included: a beaded toilet & toilet paper; a beaded can of beaded candy; a large "rotting Lemon", etc. If you're interested in "Women's Work" and beads, I suggest you might find this "CBS Sunday Morning" segment online." The rotting beaded lemon by Kathleen Ryan is particularly impressive! Google led me to a number of her works of rotting fruit. Who whould have thought! Thanks, Ken, for alerting us to this interesting video about this exhibit in New York. Check it out!
