Long time member, Yvonne Woods passed away in early February. Yvonne was a Bead Society Manager of Bead Bazaars for several years. She also served as a Secretary of the Society in 2018-19. She was one of the Bead Society's most consistent volunteers. She helped out at the Pop Ups, Bead Bazaars and at the recent Parking Lot events. She was pleasant and personable, and great to work with. Yvonne will be remembered for always matching jewelry colors to fashion items that she wore. She would make necklaces to wear with her outfits. One of my favorite necklaces that Yvonne wore is one that was a series of colorful beads that looked like marbles. Yvonne will be sorely missed by members of the Bead Society and her family. Thanks to Sylvia Humphrey, Lisa Shatts, Tim Meikle and Kay Deeney for pictures and text.

Oh, I am sorry for the loss for us all of Yvonne! She was the most warm, kind and CALM person. Her commitment to calm taught me so much! I am so glad I got a hug from Yvonne at the Holiday Party this past December. What a beautiful person. We both joined the BSLA at the same meeting, in Fall 2009. She was a far more committed member than I have ever been. I will love and cherish my memories of Yvonne!

When I think of The Bead Society, she has always been one of the people that would come to mind. I remember her wearing an absolutely stunning smoky quartz and crystal necklace that she made. She truly rocked out in that necklace! I admired her for that.

I’m so sad to hear of Yvonne’s passing. I had sent her an email just recently inviting her to join me for a retrospective showing of African American painter Bob Thompson at the Hammer Museum in Westwood. I also told her that she had such a loving, calming energy - I loved being in her presence. Little did I know... I’ll miss her. 🌺
