The Bead Society participated in the Culver City Rock & Mineral Club's Fiesta of Gems on June 29th and 30th, 2024. We have had a table other years, but this time we brought beads to sell! It was exciting! The beads and jewelry come from donations from the families of Bead Society members and others. We have used the beads in classes, donated them to various groups and have sold some at our Pop Ups and other shows. We reconnected with lots of the people who have attended our Pop Ups and Bazaars and met new people who attend the Fiesta of Gems on a yearly basis. Various Bead Society volunteers such as Angie C, Sylvia H, Denise W, Bridgette W, Carmen L, and Nikki D helped out at the show. We demonstrated basic bead design for making a necklace with Lisa Shatts, Bead Society President, and Kumihimo with Kay Deeney. We also answered questions about bead stringing, supplies, and classes. We donated a lovely multistrand wire-wrapped necklace for the CCRMC's raffle. The necklace has blue sponge coral beads, glass beads, cubes, glass donut beads, frosted drops, and crystal beads. It is finished with Karen Hill Tribe hammered silver cones and a deluxe sterling silver clasp. The necklace was created by Dalal Khouri, a Bead Society member who passed away. Her family donated a large number of beads and finished jewelry to the Society. We had charts of semiprecious stones that people could look at. We were quite busy at the two day show. We hope to do it again next year! Come join us!
