"WORLD ON A STRING" is a 5 part documentary series produced by filmmaker Diana Friedberg. It tells the remarkable story of human history through one of mankind's tiniest creations — the bead. It is an awesome saga spanning some 100,000 years.

The first 3 parts of the series have been completed and have already garnered 11 awards at major US film festivals. Two major exhibition have been mounted based on "THE ETERNAL BEAD" and "THE SACRED BEAD" at the BEAD MUSEUM in Washington D.C.  The series also
forms an integral part of the current exhibition "BEAUTY AND THE BEAD" at the Tropen Museum in Amsterdam.

Part 4 “THE TREASURED BEAD” will be available in June 2007, and Part 5 “THE PASSION FOR BEADS” will be available later in the year.
