2006 Bead Challenge Winners
The 2006 Bead Challenge was our first Tri-society Bead Challenge, making it a truly unique event. For the first time, the competition included members of the Los Angeles Bead Society, the Orange County Bead Society, and honorary members of the San Diego Bead Society. There were many beautiful and imaginative entries in each category.
Judging took place on April 14, 2006 and was graciously hosted by the Orange County Bead Society at the beautiful Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. Special thanks to Cheryl Richards, who hosted a fabulous lunch for the committee. The judges included: Lynn Pelletier, Jeannette Cook, Marcia DeCoster, Linda Ruth, Maria Bastanchury, and Maryann Farber. There were several other committee members also present. Once again, Lillian Todaro coordinated the effort.
The judges took their time and carefully considered the numerous entries and awarded the following.
- Wearable Art: Arlene Watson “Beaded Felt Clutch”
- Jewelry: Lillian Todaro “Bead O’s”
- Mixed Media: Cheryl Richards “My Beading Heart”
- Educational: Tim Meikle “Games, Games, Games”
- Seed Beads: Kimberly Allison “Arachne”
- Honorable Mention: Carol Cunningham Hutte “Goddess”
Each winner will receive a Certificate of Participation, and will receive a category award with a cash prize. It is loads of fun, and we all win as we get to experience new creations of art that did not previously exist.
