The 2005 Bead Challenge judging took place on Wednesday April 13th at the Beverly Hills Country Club. The three judges were: Ellen Grim, Judith Harris, and Lois Rose Rose. Several other Bead Challenge Committee members were also present. There were many beautiful and imaginative entries. The judges took their time and carefully considered all the criteria on the score sheets and awarded the following:

  • Fantasy Wearable Art: "Queen for a Day" - Gloria Yokubaitus
  • Jewelry: "Caterpilar Charm Bracelet" - Lillian Todaro
  • Mixed Media: "Forest Floor" - Nikki Donahue
  • Educational: "World Tokens" - Tim Meikle
  • Seed Beads: "Crustation" - Julie Rose Palmer
  • Functional Art: "Bird Song" - Andrea Bell
  • Honorable Mention: "Summer Fairies" - April Graham
Bird Song

This year, the judges decided to add another category, Functional Art. Each participant had three to four months to create their entry.

Each will receive a certificate of Participation, and winners will receive a category award with a cash prize, and have their name and artwork pictured on our official web site. It is loads of fun, and we all win with the creation of art works that did not previously exist.

A quote from one of the participants even before she knew she won her category, “My mother-in-law’s illness made this challenge a saving grace in my life – thank you.”
